According to authorities, there were no survivors in the crash of a Voepass flight carrying 61 people in Brazil on Friday.
The passenger plane was en route from Cascavel to Guarulhos Airport near São Paulo, the airline reported. It was confirmed that all 57 passengers and four crew members aboard perished, as confirmed by State of São Paulo firefighters to ABC News.
Voepass initially reported that there were 58 passengers on the flight but later corrected the number to 57 passengers and four crew members, confirming that all 61 individuals on board died. One ticketed passenger did not board the flight, authorities noted.
The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, according to the airline. Flight 2283 had departed without any operational restrictions, with all systems functioning properly, Voepass stated.
The crash was reported to military police at 1:28 p.m. local time. The 14-year-old ATR 72 aircraft, which had two engines, was at an altitude of 17,000 feet when it began its rapid descent, according to FlightRadar24.
