In a horrifying incident captured on surveillance footage, a woman in the Bronx fell victim to a vicious attack by an unidentified assailant. The disturbing episode unfolded around 3 a.m. last Wednesday near the intersection of E. 152nd St. and Third Ave. in the South Bronx. According to police reports, the assailant, whose face was concealed with a white towel, stealthily approached the 45-year-old victim from behind as she walked along the sidewalk.

In the chilling video footage, the assailant is seen using a belt as a weapon, throwing it around the woman’s neck like a lasso and forcefully dragging her between two parked cars. Despite the victim’s frantic attempts to free herself, she was overpowered, and the attacker callously continued his assault. Tragically, the victim lost consciousness as the assailant dragged her further from public view.

With reprehensible disregard for his victim’s well-being, the assailant periodically looked around to ensure his actions remained unnoticed. Seizing the opportunity, he proceeded to commit further atrocities, eventually sexually assaulting the helpless woman.

After perpetrating his heinous acts, the assailant fled the scene, leaving the victim traumatized and in urgent need of assistance. Law enforcement agencies, including the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit, have launched a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrator and bring him to justice.

This reprehensible attack adds to the concerning statistics of sexual assaults in the city. According to recent NYPD data released on May 5, the number of reported rapes remains alarmingly high, with 511 individuals falling victim to this crime so far this year. This figure mirrors the statistics from the previous year, indicating a troubling pattern of sexual violence that persists within the community.

As authorities continue their efforts to combat such crimes, communities must remain vigilant and supportive of survivors, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their reprehensible actions.
