    NYPD: Glendale motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash on Van Wyck Expressway near Flushing Meadows–Corona Park

    A 39-year-old man from Glendale was killed in a multi-vehicle crash while riding his motorcycle on the Van Wyck Expressway near Flushing Meadows–Corona Park on Tuesday, April 14.

    Jonathan Santiago, of Doran Avenue, was traveling northbound on a 2018 Yamaha R1 toward Exit 12A for College Point Boulevard around 7:15 p.m. when he collided with a stationary 2021 Yamaha motorcycle on the exit ramp, operated by an unidentified person.

    After the initial crash, Santiago lost control and struck a 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van driven by a 47-year-old man, who was also heading northbound on the expressway. Santiago was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the roadway.

    Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting the crash and found Santiago with severe head injuries. He was transported by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
