A person suspected of committing an armed robbery at a Shawnee gas station, allegedly firing shots inside, has succumbed to gunshot wounds inflicted by a police officer. The incident unfolded following a call reporting gunfire from a truck on K-7 Highway, prompting a police response to the robbery at a QuikTrip in the 20600 block of Shawnee Mission Parkway around 11 a.m. Officers were informed of shots being fired within the gas station upon their arrival.
In response to the perceived threat, a police officer shot the alleged armed suspect, who was subsequently transported to the hospital in critical condition. Later updates from the Shawnee Police Department, posted at 7:40 p.m. on Facebook, confirmed the suspect’s death, expressing the city’s collective sorrow over any loss of life.
